Enabling File Share

File Share is a program that allows you to exchange documents with your clients through a secure website. It is included as part of the Standard Site Builder subscription. By default, File Share includes 1 GB of space for storing documents. If needed, you can purchase additional storage space in increments of 8 GB.

Important: Before attempting to purchase additional File Share space, complete the activation process below. If you attempt to purchase more space at the same time that you activate File Share, the system will not apply your additional space.

To use File Share, you must have a paid subscription to Site Builder, and then enable File Share. If you choose to use File Share, you also may want to add a link to the File Share login page to your website. Adding this link will offer convenience for your clients. It also provides a way for you to present your Web services as an integrated whole.

NoteFile Share access is not included with all Site Builder subscriptions.

To enable File Share, do the following:

  1. Log in to your Site Builder account.
  2. Click Modules > File Share on the toolbar.
  3. Select Yes for the question Would you like to activate File Share?
  4. If you want to display a banner on your site, select a banner style. The banner is a link that your clients can use to access the File Share login page.

    Notes

    • If you do not include one of these banners on your site, you must provide another way for clients to access File Share. You can either provide a text link, or you can use your own image to create a hyperlinked banner.
    • The Purchase button displayed here is used to purchase additional File Share storage space. Do not attempt to purchase additional storage space until you have completed the rest of this procedure. See Purchasing Additional File Share Space for instructions on adding more storage space.
  5. If needed, enter or edit the text in the Display Message box. The text entered here displays when site visitors hover their pointers over the File Share banner on your website. If you did not choose to display a File Share banner, this step is not necessary.
  6. Click Accept to save your changes.
  7. Click Finalize Site to move to the Finalize page.
  8. Select either Advanced or Simple (Iframe). For File Share only, selecting either of these options produces the same end results. ClosedWhat is the difference between Advanced and Simple (Iframe)?

Some types of eContent are modular. For those types of eContent, this option determines how much flexibility you have in determining where portions of eContent display on your website. In the case of File Share, there is only a single module, so there is no difference between these options.

  9. To put a link to File Share on your firm's website, do one of the following:

Once you enable File Share, your Site Builder administrator will receive an email with a link to the File Share site and information about creating a password. The administrator's credentials will be used to log in to File Share. Other users can be added by following the procedures described in the File Share Help.
