Seasonal Tax Preparer
Are you a skilled individual or trust tax preparer looking for work-life balance in the North Bay? Are you looking to be part of a positive team environment where you can continue to grow and learn? Are you looking for flexibility in your schedule with a permanent part-time position?
The senior tax preparer position would be perfect for someone who has experience in a mid-sized accounting firm but needs more flexibility in their schedule, wants control of their work hours, wants more personal time in the summer, and someone who enjoys the challenges of working on a variety of tax returns in a paperless environment. Tax Preparer Position - Description and Duties:
- Preparation/review of income tax return work papers and tax returns for individuals and trusts.
- This position will have client contact so a pleasant, helpful, and professional demeanor is essential.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Have at least 3 years experience preparing income tax returns.
- CTEC certification or EA is preferable.
- Attention to detail with the ability to analyze and evaluate tax related transactions
- Technology oriented, must thrive in a paperless office and must be able to adapt to automation using cutting edge software. Previous usage of CCH software is a plus.
- Excel is your go to tool for everything from analyzing data to summing a bunch of numbers on the fly.
- Proficiency with using Excel and Adobe.
- Have an ability to manage time efficiently in a professional services environment.
- You look ahead at your work queue and anticipate your ability to meet upcoming deadlines. You have the ability to ask for help when overloaded before it's too late.
- Professionally driven to continue learning.
- Must have complete command of English language to be successful in this role.
- Comfortable with asking questions and an effective team communicator.
- Comfortable with working independently in a small group.
- The position can accommodate the need for flexibility to balance against other demands, i.e., possibly family, children, school or study. These positions would be best for an individual that lives within a reasonable commute of our office in San Rafael. The hours anticipated for this role are flexible to the demands of the business which are generally more intensive January through mid April and September through mid-October.
