Robert P. Masotti graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the School of Business with a major in accounting. He cofounded the firm on the simple principle that our clients will always be our number one priority. Today, he continues that same message as the senior member of the firm.
During the course of his career, he has had extensive experience practicing before the Internal Revenue Service including the Office of International Operations, Regional Appeals Office, District Counsel's Office, and the National Office. He has supported attorneys in tax fraud litigation cases including negotiations with the U.S. Department of Justice attorneys in Washington, D.C. and has assisted with plea bargaining negotiations with the local U.S. Attorney's Office. He has worked with the tax departments of large publicly held companies on corporate income tax matters. He has assisted many clients and their attorneys with mergers, acquisitions, and the sale of businesses. He continues to consult with clients on business, income tax, and estate planning issues.
His business experience includes serving on the Board of Directors of real estate investment and development companies, a publicly held multi-bank holding company, an international finance company, an aerospace manufacturing company and two private charitable foundations. He has served, and continues to serve, as executor and trustee for several of our clients.
He has contributed material to the Tax Advisor, a monthly magazine published by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he has been a guest lecturer at Pace University and SCORE, a division of the U.S. Small Business Administration. He is also an honorary member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Fellow in the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
